Automatically Granting Users the Ability to Edit Their Profiles

Many units choose to grant certain users, such as faculty or grad students, the ability to edit their own People profile page. Rather than add this permission manually, we now offer a feature to enable it automatically.

Automatically Assign the Author Role to All Users

With a newly released feature, we can automatically grant anyone on your site the ability to edit their own Profile, whenever their profile exists on your site. Profiles will be matched by SUNet ID.
This will save you the trouble of individually granting Author roles and setting the Author name on Profile pages, as described in Granting Faculty Permission to Edit their People Profile . If the person does not have a profile on your site, no action will be taken, and if their profile comes in at another point in the future, they'll be able to edit their profile at that time.
This setting must be configured by the H&S Web Team. Please  contact support  if you would like us to enable this function on your site.

  • As a reminder, if your website imports profiles from  Stanford Profiles , many fields will be greyed out and not editable.
