Workgroup Manager: Adding admins as members to restore permissions

This article explains how workgroup admins can restore member-level permissions by adding themselves (and other affected admins) as members in Workgroup Manager, following a change introduced by the Sequoia HR system update.

Overview & Background

In Workgroup Manager, admin and member are separate roles. Admins can add and remove members. However, following a recent modification tied to the Sequoia update, being an admin of a workgroup no longer automatically grants the permissions that members receive. Where that's the case, an admin can resolve the issue by explicitly adding the affected admins as members.
Before you start
  • You must have admin rights on the workgroup you intend to modify.
  • Compile a list of all admins who are not currently members of the workgroup. These are the accounts that will need to be added as members to restore their permissions.

Steps

Log into Workgroup Manager at  https://workgroup.stanford.edu
Click Search, then select the workgroup from the autocomplete options presented.
Go to the workgroup's Members tab.
Click the Actions button, then select Add Member.
Add every admin who should be receiving member permissions (use the list you prepared in "Before you start").
    Click the Add button.

Expected Outcome

Once added as members, the affected admins will regain the permissions granted to workgroup members.
