Troubleshooting: Course(s) Not Appearing on Website

Are you having trouble with courses not appearing as expected on your site? This guide reviews some of the most common causes and how to fix them.

Potential Cause: A filter is excluding certain types of courses

There are a number of reasons that courses might be filtered from appearing on your site. Some commonly used filters include:
Only Section 1 is shown on the website. To prevent a long list of discussion sections from appearing, there may be a filter to exclude all section listings other than Section 1.
The course doesn't have a schedule. Some websites filter out courses that don't list a date and time.
The course is an independent study. To prevent a long list of courses, some units filter out independent study courses such as Directed Readings, Independent Research, TGR, etc.
Please note that filters are site-dependent and are based upon request, so what is filtered on one website may not be filtered on another. Filters can be adjusted as needed.

Potential Cause: The course is not offered

Some websites filter out courses that are not offered that year. Ensure that if the course is meant to be offered, it has been updated in the appropriate registrar system.
If the course will not be offered but you'd like it to appear on your website anyway, we can adjust the filters. Please r each out to support  .

Potential Cause: The site is configured to import courses via Course Tags, and the courses aren't tagged.

Courses can be imported via tags created in ExploreCourses. If tags aren't set, the courses won't appear on the website.
Visit your website's  Dashboard  to determine if your course importer depends on course tagging.
Web editors can set course tags themselves:

Potential Cause: The course is actually on the page, but not where expected

Sometimes courses don't appear where you expect to find them. Perhaps you are looking for WEB 102, and it's not located between WEB 101 and WEB 103. This could be due to the sort order that is configured on your site.
The sort order for courses is site-dependent. Some sites organize courses by subject code. Others organize by the quarter in which the course is offered. Others may include a custom sort, for example, where the list is arranged by smallest to largest number, regardless of subject code or quarter.
Note: Sort order was set at the time of implementation, but can always be modified. Please r each out to support  if you'd like to revisit this for your site.

Potential Cause: The course is scheduled too far in the future

Some websites are set up to only display courses offered in a specific window of time from today's date. For example, if it is August 1 and the course is not scheduled to begin until March (Spring quarter), there may be a filter that prevents the course from showing until closer to its start date.
