We are excited to announce a new dashboard to greet you when you log in! Our goal is to provide information at your fingertips to help you make decisions, keep your site fresh, and present opportunities for improvement.
The dashboard will launch with a few blocks of information, but you can expect additional blocks to be added over time.
In time, this dashboard will replace the maintenance reports you receive several times per year.
Although it won't be front and center when you log into your site, the Dashboard is easily accessible anytime you need it. From your shortcuts menu, simply click the option for "Dashboard." You can also access the dashboard from your homepage by adding /admin/dashboard to the URL (e.g. www.yoursite.stanford.edu/admin/dashboard).
View of the Shortcuts menu while logged into an HSDP website. The second option from the left is now "Dashboard."
The dashboard currently includes the following blocks:
HSDP Announcements
My Latest Edits
Pages with Accessibility Issues
Pages with Broken Links
Duplicate Profiles
Reorder Profiles and other Listings
Importers
Site Editors
Design Settings
University policies
HSDP Announcements
Block 1 of the site editor Dashboard. The title is "HSDP Announcements," and 4 sample items are shown with a date and a description of the update.
The first block of the dashboard includes recent HSDP announcements. These are quick updates from us about the H&S Drupal Platform (HSDP). Some will be short and to the point. Others might require longer explanations, in which case they will include a link, often to another guide in this wiki.
My Latest Edits
"My latest edits" block within the Dashboard. There are 5 columns left to right: Title (of the webpage), content type, status, last updated, and edit. A button to "view all content" lives in the bottom right corner.
The second block of the dashboard shows the pieces of content you have most recently edited. It includes a list of pages, their content type (e.g. Flexible Page, Event, etc.), status (published or unpublished), and date last updated. For each item, you can click the edit button to make further changes, or the caret to its right to view older revisions.
Pages with Accessibility Issues
Editor Dashboard showing the section for "pages with the most accessibility issues." 5 items are displayed. Each item is the name of a webpage and the number of issues it contains. A button in the lower right corner of the block reads, "View all pages with issues."
The next Dashboard block lists pages with accessibility issues. Pages with the most issues are shown first. The block is limited to 5 items, and additional pages can be found by clicking "View all pages with issues."
As time permits, we hope you'll work through these issues page by page. To do so, simply click the page name and resolve the issues identified by Editoria11y. More information about resolving issues can be found in the ♿Accessibility and Content Writingsection of this guide and at SODA.
Pages with Broken Links
Editor Dashboard showing the section for "pages with the broken links." Five items are displayed. Each item is the name of a webpage and the number of issues it contains. A button at the bottom of the block reads, "View full broken links report in SiteImprove."
To the right of the Accessibility Issues block is a block showing Broken Links. Pages with the most issues are shown first. Additional pages can be found by clicking "View full broken links report in SiteImprove."
As time permits, work through these issues page by page. To do so, simply click the page name and update any broken links you find. If you have access to SiteImprove, you can also view the report there to find specific links that are marked as broken. This can be especially helpful on webpages with many links.
Duplicate Profiles
Duplicate profiles section of the Dashboard. Two identical names can be found in the list. The column for "source" indicates that one name was imported and the other was created locally on the site.
The "Duplicate Profiles" block shows instances where multiple profiles share the same name, most likely indicating an error or redundancy. This block lists not only the duplicated profiles, but also how the content reached your site. Some profiles are created locally (directly on your site), while others are imported from a Workgroup, an Org Code, or some combination of the two.
On occasion, you may encounter duplicates. Most of the time, we recommend clicking the link to "unpublish" the localperson profile, although if you feel that's not the right choice for your site, please contact us via support for a short conversation. More information can be found in the guide on Troubleshooting: Duplicate Person Profiles Importing.
Reorder Profiles and Other Listings
Reorder profiles section of the Dashboard. One item is listed, which displays that People has 6 items that have been reordered. Clicking the link to "Reorder Items" will show what is reordered and can be updated if needed.
"Reorder profiles and other listings" allows you to view any listings that are not in the default order. For example, many units reorder their people such that a department chair or DFO is placed at the top of the list or page, rather than in alphabetical order with the rest of the people. Clicking the button to "reorder items" will bring you to a page that allows you to reorder the items of that type, in this case, People.
Webpage to reorder People profiles on your website. In this example, 6 names are listed, and options to remove or edit the profile are in line with the person's name. Additional items can be added below. At the bottom of the page are buttons (left to right) to Save, Reverse, Shuffle, Clear, or Cancel.
Importers
Dashboard view showing the Importers block. There are three sections: Course importers, Event Importers, and People Importers. If your site runs any importers, they will be listed here for your reference.
The Importers block shows three different types of importers that can be added to your site:
Course Importers
Event Importers
People Importers
This block was added for informational purposes. Depending on your site's configuration, you may see data in all of these areas, just one or two, or none. More information about importers and how they work on your site can be found in the Importers guide.
Site Editors
"Active Site Editors" block of the Dashboard. Three columns are shown: editor name, role(s), and last access.
Below Duplicate Profiles is "Active site editors." This block lists every person with permission to edit content, including Site Manager, Contributor, Author, and Developer. You'll notice a list with columns for the person's name or SUNetID, all of their assigned roles, and when they last accessed the site.
Only "active" editors are listed, which means if someone previously had permissions on your site but no longer does, they will not be displayed.
As a reminder, the best practice is for each editor to have only Site Manager OR Contributor status, not both. Learn more about User Roles and how to Manage User Permissions.
Design Settings
Design Settings block of the Dashboard. It shows the website's theme, color pairing, and whether or not animation enhancements are enabled. Links are provided to visit the H&S reference websites for inspiration and to see examples of the different color pairing options.
The Design Settings block allows you to quickly view your website's Theme, Color Pairing, and whether or not animation enhancements are enabled.
University Policies
"University Policies" block at the bottom of the initial Dashboard. The block reads, "All site content must comply with University Policies," and includes links to: University trademark and images, copyright, online privacy, accessibility, and terms of use for Sites.
The final block of the Dashboard offers quick links to various University policies. Here, you can quickly find:
University trademark and images
Copyright
Online privacy
Accessibility
Terms of use for sites
Dashboard Menu
Because the Dashboard can be quite long, we've added a menu with jump links to each section. You can find the menu in the top left corner of the Dashboard.
